Jan - 14 Write about an object that holds sentimental value and why it’s important to you.

A small silver locket is very special to me because it used to belong to my mom. Inside, it has tiny pictures of her and my grandmother, smiling when they were young. The locket isn't just jewelry—it reminds me of the love and connection between us. When I wear it, I feel close to them, like they're with me even when I'm on my own. The locket helps me remember their strength and love, which gives me comfort and courage every day.

Jan - 10 Semester Reflection

1. One book I enjoyed over the break was To Kill a Mockingbird because of its powerful message about justice and empathy.  2. I'd invite Frederick Douglass to dinner and ask him how he found the strength to fight for freedom and equality despite his much adversity.  3. This semester, I want to improve my time management skills by using a planner and setting smaller, achievable goals for each week.  4. I would set a story in the 1920s Harlem Renaissance to explore the vibrant culture and creativity of that time.  5. The song Hallelujah reminds me of Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter because it captures themes of suffering, resilience, and redemption.  6. The most challenging part of last semester was balancing schoolwork and personal responsibilities, and I plan to stay more organized this semester by creating a daily schedule.  7. At the end of this semester, I want to feel accomplished, knowing I gave my best effort and grew as a student.  8. If I...

Jan - 13 Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

I stepped out of my comfort zone when I had to ask a stranger for help while traveling alone. I was lost in a new city, and my phone had no signal. Normally, I avoid talking to strangers, but I had no choice. I approached someone at a café and explained my situation. They were kind and gave me clear directions. Although it felt uncomfortable at first, I realized that reaching out wasn't as scary as I thought—and it saved my day.

Jan 8 - Write about a dream that felt real

I dreamed I was standing on a beach at sunset. The sand was warm under my feet, and the waves gently touched my toes. The sky was painted with orange and pink, and the sound of the ocean was so calming.  Suddenly, someone called my name. I turned around and saw a familiar face, but I couldn't remember who they were. They smiled and said, “It's time to go.”  Before I could ask where, I woke up. The sound of the waves was still in my ears, and for a moment, I thought I was still there
